Mark is the youngest of 4 brothers. He began playing his 2nd oldest brother’s guitar when he was 12 years old. Welcome Home Sanitarium and Sunday Bloody Sunday was played on repeat through that guitar for 2-3 years until he began seeing Jesse James (the fastest guitarist in the west) for guitar tutoring. He continued his music studies though High School and once he graduated, he and a few friends (John Hoadley, Jeffrey Barczak, and Michael Azoury) formed the legendary and influential rock band named Morning Wood, or was it Mourning Wood; umm maybe it was Morning Would, Mourning Would?
The name Morning Rut was tossed around for a while when the drummer started playing bass allowing Mark to switch to guitar. Another drummer was added who had previously played for the scandalous Shady Rut. But this assortment of musicians did not last long. While Mark was now happy because he was playing guitar and had more music writing responsibilities, the old drummer (now bassist) wasn’t so infatuated with playing the bass and he began to miss practices, consistently, indubitably. If this were the only problem then the original force behind Morning Wood would still be alive. But, as the story goes, the drummer, an amazing musician and phenomenal hockey player, had an unfortunate bad habit... (All drugs are bad mmmkay) Morning Wood dwindled after this. Michael, Jeffrey, and Mark, the three remaining original band members, still met and had plans on making a CD of the work they had compiled over the past few years. But these plans were foiled due to growing up. Mark began his studies for Pharmacy; Jeffrey got married and was accepted into medical school in Pennsylvania; Michael however, though he was finishing his college education, never gave up the dream of being in a band. Years passed, and Mike began playing in a band with a few other guys. One day he asked Mark to come and try jamming with them. Mark was hesitant at first, he had the summer off from pharmacy school but he was working two jobs at the time. He was getting married in June and he needed all the money he could scrounge up. But Mike was persistent and Mark relented and things began to click into place. But with the addition of Joe it became apparent that this was more than a garage band. The band known as AZURI belched into existence. Since then, the band members of AZURI have all had set backs and serious issues. Yet though all the strife they’re still together and have grown together and still have the passion for making their music with friends who are family. |
